2020 Cruelty-Free Holiday Gift Guide Part 2–Gift Sets & Luxury Items

Monday, I shared “Part 1” of the cruelty-free gift guide, which featured small gifts and stocking stuffers. Those types of gifts are versatile for family, friends, co-workers, or white elephant gift exchanges. Today, I’d like to share some cruelty-free gift sets and luxury items that I would recommend for gift-giving this holiday season.

I think gift sets are an excellent choice because they often include a variety of products, giving the “giftee” an opportunity to try different things. They’re also a good option if you know what type of product the person you’re buying for likes, but you don’t know which specific color, scent, etc. they prefer.

Luxury items are obviously more expensive, but I think they make wonderful gifts as well because a lot of people don’t want to splurge on those types of products for themselves. Gifting those items allows loved ones to try things they may never have otherwise had the opportunity to enjoy.

As always, all of the products mentioned in this gift guide are 100% cruelty-free. By IntegriBeauty standards, that means all of these companies are cruelty-free and either independently owned, or owned by another cruelty-free company.

Like “Part 1” of my gift guide, you will see some repeats from previous posts. These will be products that I’ve tested and enjoy so much, I want to recommend them again. Other items will be products that I have not personally tried, but that are from cruelty-free brands I trust. I will also make sure all products that I haven’t personally used, have very high ratings. I want to make sure I only recommend the best!

Let’s start with gift sets!

Beauty by Earth Bath Bomb Gift Set

I’m not a “bath person” so I don’t personally use bath bombs, but nearly everyone else I know loves them! They are on the pricey side, so a lot of people won’t buy bath bombs for themselves. For people that enjoy taking baths, bath bombs can take a nice hot bath to the next level, making it even more relaxing.

Beauty by Earth uses natural ingredients like detoxifying clays and salts, essential oils for aromatherapy, and organic oils and butters in their bath bombs, making them an excellent choice for the bath-lover in your life!

SmartyPits Trial Size Super-Strength Deodorant Set

This one probably seems pretty strange to see in a gift guide, but think about it…there are so many people transitioning from antiperspirant to deodorant, and it’s very difficult to find just the right formula and scent. There’s a good chance that someone in your life is on the hunt for the perfect natural deodorant. I sweat a lot and I’m very self-conscious about how I smell, so it’s been a struggle for me trying to find the right natural deodorant. If that reminds you of anyone you know, this might be the perfect gift for them.

I’ve only been using this deodorant for about a week, but I am really enjoying it so far. I like that this set includes four different fragrances (Coconut Mango, Eucalyptus Spearmint, Tweed + Spice, and Cool Cucumber) because SmartyPits offers many different fragrance options and it’s hard to choose just one. With this set, you don’t have to! These would also be a good gift idea for someone that travels a lot. These little trial size deodorants are the perfect size for travel!

Where to buy: Amazon.com ($22.00)

SmartyPits also makes a set with the same fragrances, but formulated for sensitive skin (baking soda free).

Versed The Big Chill Winter Unwind Gift Set

Skincare has become an important part of self-care for many of us, this year more than ever since we’re spending so much more time at home. Versed is a fairly new drugstore skincare brand. Versed actually claims to be the cleanest drugstore skincare brand, so I was curious about their products for a long time. I recently placed an order with Versed and one of the things I got was The Big Chill Winter Unwind Gift Set, which includes their popular Just Breathe Clarifying Serum (mini), The Fix Emergency Eye Mask (mini), and a Frozen Cooling Globe which is to be used for facial massage.

I’ve been using The Fix Emergency Eye Mask for a few weeks as my nighttime eye cream, and I really enjoy the heavy texture. I feel like it provides more hydration than most of the other eye creams I’ve used. I’ve used the Cooling Globe a couple of times, and it’s not my cup of tea, but I might not have been using it correctly. I know a lot of people enjoy these because the cool temperature combined with facial massage reduces puffiness and increases blood flow. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to use the Just Breathe Clarifying Serum because I’m using up another serum first. I’m very excited about it though, because it has an impressive ingredient list which includes niacinamide, willow bark extract, and zinc.

The Big Chill Winter Unwind Gift Set is great gift for anyone wanting to keep their skin in tip-top shape!

Where to buy: VersedSkin.com ($16.99)

E.l.f. Skin Hit Kit and Mini Skin Hit Kit

I recently dipped my toe into e.l.f. skincare, and I must say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality! One of the products I tried is the Happy Hydration Cream, which is a moisturizer formulated with hemp seed oil (this ingredient moisturizes and strengthens skin while also helping to regulate oil production). That cream is part of e.l.f.’s Cannabis Sativa Collection, which includes four products: Happy Hydration Cream,  All the Feels Facial Oil, Calm Balm, and Puff Puff Primer. All four of these products can be found in the Skin Hit Kit!

I was curious about those other three products, so I recently ordered the Mini Skin Hit Kit which includes minis of all four of the Cannabis Sativa Collection products. I haven’t had a chance to thoroughly test any of the products, besides the Happy Hydration Cream, but I think they would work well for all skin types. The full size Skin Hit Kit or Mini Skin Hit Kit would make a great gift for anyone looking to try some new skincare products.

Where to buy e.l.f. Skin Hit Kit: ElfCosmetics.com ($37.00)

Where to buy e.l.f. Mini Skin Hit Kit: ElfCosmetics.com ($15.00)

E.l.f. Putty Primer Trio

For anyone that read my product review on the e.l.f. Luminous Putty Primer, you might be surprised to see the Putty Primer Trio included in my gift guide. I own both the original Poreless Putty Primer and the Luminous Putty Primer, and neither of them do anything for my skin. However, just because these primers don’t work for me doesn’t mean they don’t work well for others. These primers have gotten amazing reviews from others, so I recognize that they are good products. This set is a good way to let someone try all three of e.l.f.’s Putty Primer formulas: Poreless Putty Primer, Matte Putty Primer, and Luminous Putty Primer.

Where to buy: ElfCosmetics.com ($9.00)

Profusion Cosmetics Eye Essentials Brush Set

Every makeup-lover that enjoys eyeshadow needs a good set of eye brushes. Quality brushes can make a big difference in the ease of application and the finished eye look. It can be challenging to find eye brushes that work well for small or hooded eyes, because a lot of brushes are just too large. The Profusion Cosmetics Eye Essentials Brush Kit is a great option for smaller eyes because none of the brushes are too large. The Small Pointed Eyeshadow brush in particular is perfect for detail work on small eyes.

I’ve only talked about this brush set in relation to small or hooded eyes, but honestly I think these brushes would work very well for any size or shape of eyes. These brushes are high quality, soft, comfortable to hold, and vegan. They feel like high-end brushes without the high-end price tag!

The brushes in this set can be used to create a full eye look:

  • ES2 Firm Blending Eyeshadow Brush
  • ES3 Pointed Crease Eyeshadow Brush
  • ES5 Flat Shader Eyeshadow Brush
  • ES6 Small Pointed Eyeshadow Brush
  • ES7 Flat Precise Eyeshadow Brush

Where to buy: ProfusionCosmetics.com ($16.00)

BK Beauty The Essentials Face Brush Set

I was hesitant to include this brush set in the gift guide because of the price, but I did want to include luxury items and these are the best of the best in face brushes. I don’t actually own these brushes, but I have heard nothing but rave reviews from influencers and friends alike that have purchased BK Beauty brushes, particularly the face brushes.

This vegan brush set includes the following:

  • Contoured Foundation Brush OR Round Foundation Brush
  • Large Powder Brush
  • Bronzer Brush
  • Tapered Powder Brush

Where to buy: BKBeauty.com ($130.00)

Pinrose Travel Size Rollerball Perfume Set

Perfume is a popular item to gift, but did you know that most fragrance brands are NOT cruelty-free? There are plenty of cruelty-free skincare and makeup options, but very few for fragrances. One of the few fragrance brands that is cruelty-free (clean and vegan, too!) is Pinrose. I haven’t had room in my budget this year to try any Pinrose fragrances, but so many of Pinrose’s perfumes sound like they would smell amazing! This set is a great way to try them all, which is especially nice because it would be very difficult to choose just one.

Where to buy: Amazon.com ($47.00)

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

After perfume, I think luxurious body creams are some of the best gifts for someone you want to spoil! The one that always comes to mind first for me is Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. Most of you reading this post have probably already heard of this product because it’s been quite popular for a long time now and I wrote a product review on it earlier this month.

Bum Bum Cream is not only popular because it’s a good body cream, but also because of the scent…maybe even primarily because of the scent. Sol de Janeiro states “Addictively scented with our Cheirosa ’62 fragrance with delicious notes of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla.” I’ll never get tired of this scent. I wish it would follow me everywhere I go!

If you’re buying for someone that loves luxurious body products that have a rich unique fragrance, look no further than Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream.

Where to buy: Amazon.com ($45.00)

Alpyn Beauty Skincare

Another luxury gift idea is skincare. I primarily use drugstore skincare products, but I have been lusting over Alpyn Beauty’s luxury natural skincare products for months. This vegan brand is unique and not very well-known, so I’ll tell you a little bit about them. Alpyn Beauty sustainably sources organic wild botanical ingredients from the mountains in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The ingredients used in Alpyn Beauty products are backed by science to preserve, protect, and strengthen skin.

The Alpyn Beauty skincare line includes the Wild Huckleberry 8-Acid Polishing Peel, PlantGenius Line-Filling Eye Balm, PlantGenius Melt Moisturizer, PlantGenius Survival Serum, Calming Midnight Mask with Melatonin & Wild Dandelion, and Creamy Bubbling Cleanser with Fruit Enzymes & AHAs. The product that I find to be most interesting is the PlantGenius Line-Filling Eye Balm. It’s difficult to find an eye cream that actually improves the appearance of the under-eye area, but judging by the many glowing reviews, this one is very effective! It contains ingredients that brighten, tighten, lift, fill in fine lines, reduce puffiness, protect against free radicals, and keep skin hydrated. This sounds like a miracle product that does it all!

Where to buy Alpyn Beauty PlantGenius Line-Filling Eye Balm: AlpynBeauty.com ($62.00)

Thrive Causemetics Cosmo Power Multi-Dimensional Strobing Blush

The makeup-lover in your life will always appreciate luxury makeup products. Though I’ve only tried two of their products so far, my favorite high-end makeup brand is Thrive Causemetics. Their products are extremely well-made and the company does a lot of good things to make the world a better place!

One of the Thrive Causemetics products I own is the Cosmo Power Multi-Dimensional Strobing Blush in the shade Rosie. This blush is a universally-flattering pink with a golden sheen, so in my opinion it is like applying both blush and highlight at the same time! This blush is lovely and would make a wonderful gift.

Where to buy: ThriveCausemetics.com ($34.00)

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

The other Thrive Causemetics product I own is their Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara in the shade Brynn (black). This mascara is by far their most popular product, and for good reason. It’s very effective at separating and lengthening eyelashes, and will never flake or smudge because it is a tubing mascara. There aren’t many tubing mascaras on the market and this is the only one I’ve tried, but it’s an excellent choice! In addition to the effectiveness of the mascara, it also comes in very nice luxury packaging. The tube is very heavy and I think that really adds to the experience.

Almost everyone that wears makeup, wears mascara, so you really can’t go wrong with this product as a gift!

Where to buy: ThriveCausemetics.com ($24.00)

Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol. 1 Eyeshadow Palette

You didn’t think I’d forgotten eyeshadow, did you? Of course not–I love eyeshadow! If you have someone in your life that enjoys building beautiful eye looks and working with a variety of textures, they will absolutely adore the Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol. 1 eyeshadow palette. This palette features six beautiful shades: black, chocolate brown, burnt orange, camel, cream, and cranberry. Each shade comes in four unique textures: matte, sequin (matte with suspended shimmer), metallic, and glitter. These shadows are highly pigmented and the glitters are out-of-this-world gorgeous!

Where to buy: TatiBeauty.com ($48.00)

Travel Makeup Organizer

Last but not least, I had to include a travel makeup organizer. It doesn’t exactly fall under “gift sets & luxury items” but I think this type of bag makes a great gift for someone that likes to travel with more than a few makeup products. I’ve used this bag on a couple of trips over the last few years.

This isn’t the prettiest makeup bag, but it is very sturdy and holds everything needed for a full face of makeup (or skincare; it could be used for either or both, depending on the person). The compartments are customizable by moving the dividers as needed, so if you need a little more room in one of the compartments, you can move or remove one of the dividers. In the top of the bag, there are pouches designed for brushes, with a flap that folds down to protect them from damage. Plus, there is a zipper pocket that’s big enough to hold a couple of small to medium sized palettes!

I actually received this travel makeup organizer as a gift myself, and have really enjoyed it!

I truly hope this gift guide helps you with your gift shopping this holiday season. This year has been a stressful one, but maybe holiday shopping doesn’t have to be. More of us are shopping online instead of going into stores, so I think that should help!

If you have questions about any of the products in this gift guide (part 1 or 2), please don’t hesitate to ask. There are a few things on here that I haven’t yet used myself, but I can still help you find any answers you need. 🙂 The same goes for any other cruelty-free products that you’re unsure of. There is a wide world of products out there and it’s not always easy deciding which ones are worth the money.

Have you started your holiday gift shopping yet, or will you start on Black Friday (or later)? I’ve bought gifts for some of the people on my list, but I’m still looking for ideas for others. That’s always the hardest part, in my opinion!

Happy shopping!

2020 Cruelty-Free Holiday Gift Guide Part 1–Small Gifts & Stocking Stuffers

Black Friday is only a few short days away and Christmas is right around the corner. I never feel ready for it, but it’s time to start thinking about gift ideas. My favorite types of things to buy as gifts are self-care items, because I think proper self-care is often overlooked, especially during busy times in our lives.

I recognize that self-care doesn’t look the same for every person, but beauty-related self-care is what always comes to mind for me since that is what I’m passionate about. For weeks, I’ve been contemplating the idea of putting together a cruelty-free gift guide, and I’m going for it! I hope this guide will be helpful to you, whether you’re interested in any of the specific products, or if I simply provide you with some inspiration.

I’m going to begin with small gifts and stocking stuffers. I think these are some of the most fun products to give and receive. They’re usually easy on the wallet too, which many of us can appreciate during this tough year.

You will see some repeats in this gift guide from previous posts. These will be products that I’ve tested and enjoy so much, I want to recommend them again. Other items will be products that I have not personally tried, but that are from cruelty-free brands I trust. I will also make sure all products that I haven’t personally used, have very high ratings. I want to make sure I only recommend the best!

Beauty by Earth Organic Lip Scrub

Nothing says self-care like lip scrub, especially during cold winter months! Beauty by Earth Organic Lip Scrubs provide luxurious exfoliation and hydration. These come in three flavors: berry, mint, and vanilla. For the holidays, I don’t think you can beat mint! Plus, it’s very refreshing.

Where to buy: BeautybyEarth.com ($11.99) or Amazon.com ($14.99)

You can also purchase these lips scrubs in a gift set. The set includes three lip scrubs, one in each of the three flavors. This set would be a nice gift for someone that you know LOVES lip scrub, or you could split them up and use as individual stocking stuffers for three people. 😉

Where to buy: BeautybyEarth.com ($25.99) or Amazon.com ($29.99)

Beauty by Earth Organic Lip Balm

If you know someone that would enjoy the Beauty by Earth Organic Lip Scrub, they may also like the Beauty by Earth Organic Peppermint Lip Balm. These two products make a great pair to keep your lips looking healthy through the dry, windy winter months. This lip balm is full of nourishing ingredients that lips will love! It comes in five options:

  • 4-pack unflavored
  • 4-pack honey/vanilla bean (2 of each flavor)
  • 4-pack superfruits (one each of acai berry, asian pear, grapefruit pomegranate, green tea)
  • 4-pack peppermint
  • 12-pack variety (4 peppermint, 1 acai berry, 1 asian pear, 1 grapefruit pomegranate, 1 green tea, 2 vanilla bean, 2 honey)

The Organic Peppermint Lip Balm would be the perfect companion gift for the Organic Mint Lip Scrub!

Where to buy Organic Peppermint Lip Balm (4-pack): BeautybyEarth.com ($10.99) or Amazon.com ($10.99)

If you’re shopping for a lot of people that enjoy lip balm, it might be more cost-effective to go for the big 12-pack gift set.

Where to buy Organic Lip Balm Gift Set (12-pack): BeautybyEarth.com ($24.99) or Amazon.com ($26.99)

I haven’t tried the Beauty by Earth Organic Lip Balms, but I do have their SPF 15 Lip Balm in the piña colada flavor. The SPF 15 Lip Balms come in 2-packs in two flavors: piña colada and key lime. These are a great option for anyone looking to include sun protection in their lip care. These lip balms are high quality and would certainly make great stocking stuffers just like the Organic Lip Balms, but they are a little bit more expensive per tube.

Where to buy: BeautybyEarth.com ($10.99) or Amazon.com ($10.99)

Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumper

I couldn’t include a lip scrub and lip balm without also including a third lip product to add a little holiday sparkle, now could I? Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumper is a high-shine hydrating lip gloss. Perfect for the holidays! There are 15 shades available and ten of those have shimmer. I think shimmer is so pretty in lip gloss, especially for festive holiday makeup looks. This lip gloss would make an excellent stocking stuffer!

Where to buy: MilaniCosmetics.com ($8.99) or Amazon.com ($5.98-$13.97) (Please note that there are only 12 shades currently available on Amazon.)

E.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadows & Face Duos

For the makeup lover in your life, e.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadow palettes might be the perfect stocking stuffer. They’re small but mighty, filled with beautiful eyeshadow shades that perform impressively well. There are eight unique palettes, ranging from standard neutral to bold and bright, so there’s an option for every style!

Where to buy: ElfCosmetics.com ($3.00)

Soon after the Bite Size eyeshadow palettes were released, e.l.f. put out the Bite Size Face Duos, which include a blush and highlight. These would be another great stocking stuffer because they’re the same small size as the Bite Size Eyeshadows. Not only are they adorable, but these little face duos are highly pigmented. I haven’t reviewed these yet, but I do own two shades: Spiced Apple and Cantaloupe. These are awesome little palettes and they can’t be beaten on price!

Where to buy: ElfCosmetics.com ($3.00)

Milani Eyeshadow Primer

Milani Eyeshadow Primer is the perfect companion gift for e.l.f. Bite Size Eyeshadows, or any eyeshadow! I always use Milani Eyeshadow Primer if I’m going to wear eyeshadow. Eyeshadow wears beautifully over this primer all day long without fading or creasing. For the purpose of this post, I’ll also point out that it’s very small! Only a small amount of this product is needed, so it comes in a small tube with only 0.30 ounces of product.

Where to buy: Ulta.com ($6.99)

E.l.f. Artist Mixing Palette

The e.l.f. Artist Mixing Palette is a handy little tool to keep on hand for mixing cream or liquid products. Most people use the back of their hand, but this is a cleaner, more convenient option. It’s easy to use because there is an adjustable strap attached to the back, which is used to secure the palette in place over the hand or wrist. I’ve been using this product for a couple of years and I love it! I pump out the amount of product I’ll need onto the palette and then pick it up with a brush or sponge from there.

Where to buy: ElfCosmetics.com ($2.00)

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I generally prefer a brush over a sponge for applying my foundation, but I know many people are the opposite and may also use a sponge to apply powder and other face products. The best sponge I’ve tried is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I always use this sponge damp. Once it’s fully saturated and the excess water is squeezed out, it’s the perfect size and texture. It does absorb a good amount of product, but I find that to be the case with all makeup sponges. This sponge can be purchased with a travel case, and I find that case to be so helpful. It has openings in the side so if the sponge is still damp when it goes into the case, air can still get to the sponge.

Where to buy Miracle Complexion Sponge + Case: Amazon.com ($6.98)

There is also a limited edition version of this sponge that comes packaged in a holiday ornament. It’s very cute and would make the perfect small gift or stocking stuffer!

Where to buy Limited Edition Miracle Complexion Sponge: Amazon.com ($4.89)

Pacifica Beauty 7 Free Nail Polish

What is prettier for the holidays than red nail polish? Pacifica makes a clean nail polish formula called 7 Free Nail Polish. I rarely wear nail polish myself and have never owned any from Pacifica, but I trust Pacifica and their nail polishes come in the most beautiful shades. The product description for their nail polishes states that the formula is long lasting and does not include many of the chemicals found in traditional nail polish. The shade “Cinnamon Girl” is a true red and absolutely perfect for the holidays!

Where to buy: PacificaBeauty.com ($9.00)

Yes To Coconut Ultra Hydrating Moisturizing Hand & Cuticle Cream

If you’re gifting nail polish to someone, you might as well make sure their hands and cuticles are well cared for too! That’s easier said than done with all the hand washing we’ve been doing this year, but Yes To Coconut Ultra Hydrating Moisturizing Hand & Cuticle Cream can help. I’ve been using this hand cream for a long time and I can tell you that it’s not nearly as greasy as most hand creams I’ve tried, but it’s still very nourishing. It’s great to keep on hand for reapplication after hand washings.

Where to buy: Amazon.com ($5.99)

Pacifica Sheet Masks

I never buy sheet masks for myself, but I think they’re a lot of fun to receive as gifts. My mom usually puts one in my stocking and it’s always a fun and special treat! Pacifica offers several types of sheet masks. I haven’t tried these specific products, but I have used a lot of Pacifica skincare over the years and I think it’s all very good quality. No matter who you’re buying for, one of these sheet masks will probably be appropriate for his or her skin’s needs. All of these can be purchased for $4.00 each:

Mane Club Hair Masks

Along the same vein as sheet masks, I think hair mask packets also make great stocking stuffers! They’re compact and inexpensive, but provide enough product for a few uses. Mane Club makes six unique hair masks for a variety of hair concerns. They also have fun names and cute packaging, which are great for gifts! These hair masks can be purchased directly from Mane Club or Ulta.com, but they are more expensive from Ulta. I have not personally used these hair masks yet, but they all received high ratings. All of these can be purchased for $3.00 each:

E.l.f. Cruelty-Free Pins

If you have someone in your life that is passionate about “going cruelty-free,” they might enjoy one of e.l.f.’s cruelty-free pins! These pins are so cute and would be perfect on a backpack or jacket. There are five options and each one features a different animal. The options are:

  • Bunny
  • Cat
  • Hedgehog
  • Sloth
  • Dog

Where to buy: ElfCosmetics.com ($5.00)

E.l.f. Retro Paradise Makeup Case

If you like these gift ideas, but you don’t want to use them as stocking stuffers, a good alternative is to gift them in a makeup bag! You can find makeup bags everywhere, but I think this one from e.l.f. is especially cute. It’s big enough to hold several small items without being too bulky. This would also be perfect for small school supplies if you’re shopping for a student!

Where to buy: ElfCosmetics.com ($12.00)

Shipping from all online stores mentioned

All of these stores ship within the USA, but some do not ship internationally.

  • Amazon.com ships internationally to over 100 countries, but not all items will ship to every country. Update your default shipping address to see items that will ship to your location.
  • BeautybyEarth.com ships internationally for a flat fee of $28.00.
  • MilaniCosmetics.com ships internationally, but they currently don’t ship to Mexico, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, Iraq, or Turkey.
  • ElfCosmetics.com ships to the USA and Canada only.
  • Ulta.com ships to the USA and U.S. territories, but does not ship internationally.
  • PacificaBeauty.com ships to the USA and Canada only.
  • ManeClubNYC.com ships internationally.

I hope this list has been helpful! I tried to provide a lot of good affordable options for stocking stuffers or small gifts.

There is so much more out there than what I was able to discuss in this post! If there is anything you’re interested in buying as a gift, but you aren’t certain that it’s cruelty-free, please reach out to me and I’d be happy to help. 🙂

Looking for gift sets or luxury cruelty-free gifts? Stay tuned because that will be “Part 2″ coming on Wednesday!

Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation–Medium Coverage with a Natural Finish

Did you feel a sense of déjà vu when you read this post title? If you’ve been following my posts for a couple of months or longer, it’s not your imagination. In September, I reviewed Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer. That product immediately became popular with makeup lovers when it was released in 2019. The one complaint I heard from some influencers was that it doesn’t provide enough coverage. While the tinted moisturizer was only meant to provide lightweight coverage, Colourpop listened to what customers wanted and launched Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation in July of this year.

The Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer and Hydrating Foundation have very similar formulas, but the foundation delivers on the request for more coverage. While the tinted moisturizer provides lightweight coverage that is mainly meant to even skin tone, the foundation provides medium buildable coverage. I think of Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation as the big sister of Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer.

Since I’ve also reviewed Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer and have thoroughly tested both products, I will compare characteristics of each throughout this product review. If you haven’t already read my review of Colourpop’s tinted moisturizer, you might want to read it before continuing with this product review.

Product claims directly from Colourpop.com

This skin-perfecting, medium-buildable coverage foundation creates a healthy, skin-like finish. Get coverage and hydration with the same good-for-you ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, for your healthiest looking skin ever.

Inclusivity

Colourpop thoughtfully planned the shade range for the Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation. The shade range for this product is very inclusive. There are 42 shades spanning six skin tone categories. There are seven unique shades within each of these categories:

  • Fair
  • Light
  • Medium
  • Medium Dark
  • Dark
  • Deep Dark

I don’t think it’s possible to have a perfect shade for every single person, but I think they got pretty close with this shade range. I’m glad Colourpop decided to offer so many shades in this foundation since it is medium coverage and therefore a proper shade match is very important. For contrast, the tinted foundation only comes in 24 shades, but that is still good because the coverage of that product is so lightweight and therefore shades are flexible.

For reference in photos coming up, I wear Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer in the shade Fair 4N and Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation in Fair 30N.

Packaging/ease of application

This foundation is packaged in a very nice frosted pump that looks like glass. It’s actually plastic, but that’s fine with me as far as functionality goes. It works great and makes it very easy to dispense the proper amount. I dispense about half of a pump most of the time, but use up to one pump depending on how much coverage I need on any given day. I dispense it onto my e.l.f. Artist Mixing Palette and pick up the product with a sponge or foundation brush.

I prefer to apply it with a foundation brush because I think you get better coverage when applying with a brush vs. sponge. I usually use my favorite foundation brush, the e.l.f. Angled Buffing Brush

This foundation blends easily into the skin regardless of which type of tool is used. It’s also easy to build up to the level of coverage that you want. In the photos below, I compare the coverage of the Colourpop tinted moisturizer vs. the hydrating foundation (both products were freshly applied). The tinted moisturizer doesn’t really build up beyond light coverage no matter how much product is used, but you can see that the foundation builds to a solid medium coverage. It could provide fuller coverage as needed. In both of these photos, I applied the products with a brush on the right side of my face (left side in photos) and a sponge on the left side (right side in photos). With both products, I get better coverage when using a brush.

Hydration

Colourpop makes some bold claims about the hydrating properties of this product. I’m mainly referring to the “Hydrafresh Complex” that they reference. I have no idea if those fruit extracts actually do anything to hydrate the skin, but I am always skeptical when companies make up terms like they did here.

I do believe in the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid and coconut water, however. These ingredients are known for hydrating the skin. Hyaluronic acid is actually a humectant, meaning that it pulls moisture from the air into the skin. It is capable of holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water! This is a common ingredient, but a great one to find in skincare and makeup, nonetheless.

Now that I’ve established that the ingredients in this foundation are legitimately hydrating, how does it feel on the skin? It definitely feels hydrating when I blend it into my skin. However, once it sets, I no longer feel that added hydration. It feels very similar to the tinted moisturizer. I must say that my skin never looks dry or patchy when I wear either product. Since I don’t have dry skin, I am satisfied with the level of hydration this foundation provides. Those with dry skin may want something that is slightly more hydrating.

Staying power

Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation is a product I can count on to look good all day long. It certainly has its limits, but for the average person that needs their makeup to stay intact for 8-10 hours, this foundation has you covered (pun intended).

If you’re 20 years old, this foundation will probably look flawless on your skin all day long. I’m 32 with combination skin and have some fine lines on my forehead, between my eyebrows, under my eyes, and smile lines. This foundation does settle into those lines slightly throughout the day, but setting powder minimizes that considerably. I always set this foundation with powder to get the best wear time possible.

I did a wear test with this foundation just like I did for the Colourpop tinted moisturizer. I took a photo when all my makeup was freshly applied at 10 a.m., later at 2:00 p.m. and lastly at 6:00 p.m. This was an average day for me working from home with minimal time outdoors and no sweating on my face. I also didn’t need to wear a mask today, but I can tell you that this foundation holds up reasonably well under a mask if you use setting powder on your whole face.

At 2:00, I did notice some settling into my fine lines, but it was very minimal. I don’t think anyone else would’ve even noticed. The foundation still looked great at that time. From 2:00 to 6:00, there was very little change. The foundation did start breaking down on my chin, but that seems to happen no matter what foundation I’m wearing. Overall, this foundation still looked great after eight hours of wear, and beyond.

If someone saw me after eight hours of wearing this foundation, they probably wouldn’t be able to tell I’d been wearing it all day unless they looked closely. This is an excellent foundation for reliable coverage!

Price

Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation is $16.00, compared to $14.00 for the tinted moisturizer. I think it’s fair that the foundation is slightly more expensive because the packaging is a little nicer and it’s a higher coverage product. Like the tinted moisturizer, I think the foundation is priced on the higher end of the “drugstore” price range, but it is still fairly priced. This foundation performs much better than some other affordable ones I’ve used in the past. I’m willing to pay a little bit more for a higher quality product.

Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation seems to have it all: inclusive shade range, quality packaging, easy to apply, hydrating, long wear time, and an affordable price.

This foundation does not disappoint and I think it will be a staple makeup product for many people. Most foundations will only work for certain skin types, but I think Colourpop is correct that this one is ideal for all skin types. Nice job, Colourpop!

Have you tried any Colourpop foundations or the tinted moisturizer? Please let me know in the comments!

Juvia’s Place Nubian 3 Coral Eyeshadow Palette–Not Your Average Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

Well folks, it’s been almost four months since my husband and I created IntegriBeauty. In that time, I’ve written several brand spotlights and product reviews. I’m happy to be writing my 50th blog post today! Since this is a milestone, I wanted to make sure this post would be a special one.

Today I’m sharing with you a review of one of my favorite eyeshadow palettes, the Juvia’s Place Nubian 3 Coral. At first glance, this eyeshadow palette looks like a peachy neutral palette, and there are plenty of those available from various brands. However, this is not your average neutral eyeshadow palette! The shades in here are unlike anything else I own and the color story is very unique, combining matte and shimmer cool, neutral, and warm shades. I never would’ve thought to put shades like these together, but they complement each other extremely well!

Juvia’s Place launched in 2015 and I’ve heard nothing but good things about their products. Despite that, I don’t think Juvia’s Place gets enough love from the beauty community. Juvia’s Place products are inspired by African beauty traditions. According to JuviasPlace.com, Africa is the birthplace of beauty, where the cat eye, pigmented dyes, and eyeliner originated. Juvia’s Place formulas are designed to be full coverage and highly pigmented. More importantly, inclusivity is a priority for Juvia’s Place and the company celebrates diversity.

Meet The Nubian 3 Coral, an ultra-flattering and seriously fierce array of peachy neutrals and muted hues that transform every eye look. This eyeshadow palette is the highly-wearable, all-day dose of understated yet high pigment color that you’ve been dreaming of, and features an exciting range of show-stopping shades–like creamy coral, shimmering chrome, and velvety auburn.

Inclusivity

Juvia’s Place is known for bold, often very bright eyeshadow palettes. Many of them are probably intimidating to people that don’t wear colorful eyeshadow. The Nubian 3 Coral is much more approachable. The shades in this palette are perfect for everyday wear, whether you’ll be going to work, family dinners, or running errands. That’s not to say this palette is boring, however. The shades are gorgeous!

I enjoy using colorful eyeshadows sometimes, but very bright bold colors like what you find in many of Juvia’s Place palettes can be difficult to work with on fair skin like mine. Those bold shades look beautiful on deeper skin tones, but they aren’t ideal for lighter skin tones. I think the shades in the Nubian 3 Coral palette would look great on any skin tone. Some of the shades might work slightly better on deeper skin tones and vice versa, but I believe this palette would be appropriate for anyone that enjoys wearing these colors.

In the photos below, I created three eye looks with this palette to give a general idea of how the shades look on fair skin. The main color categories in this palette are corals, browns, and grays, so I did one look featuring each of those sections of the palette. I think all three of these eye looks looked much better in person, but it’s difficult to capture colors and blending accurately in photos.

Texture

I’m so happy that Juvia’s Place made half of these shades mattes and the other half shimmers. That even split makes it really easy to create full eye looks without bringing in shades from other palettes.

I enjoy all of the shades in this palette, but the shimmers are definitely better quality than the mattes. The shimmers are smooth and easy to blend. They aren’t all perfect, though. The brown shimmer shade can be quite difficult to work with because of fallout. The most recent time I used that shade, I used my finger to apply it to my eyelid hoping that would minimize fallout, but I still ended up with a good amount on my cheeks. I experience very little fallout with the other shades. I’m so glad, because fallout is my biggest pet peeve with eyeshadow!

I like most of the mattes in this palette too, but some of them are patchy and difficult to build up (matte pinky coral and matte taupe, I’m looking at you). I’ve learned that matte shades can be difficult to get right. I think that Juvia’s Place did a good job with them overall.

Pigmentation

If you want a highly-pigmented eyeshadow palette, look no further than Juvia’s Place! Nubian 3 Coral is the only Juvia’s Place palette I’ve used so far, but I’ve seen swatches of others and they all seem to be extremely pigmented. This one is no different! When you visit JuviasPlace.com, you’ll see at the top of the homepage “The World’s Most Pigmented Shades” so they are very serious about creating pigmented products.

I am very pleased with the pigmentation of all the shades in this palette, with the one exception being the matte taupe shade. It is still useful, but it takes a lot of effort to build up. That may partly be because it is so close to my skin tone.

Staying power

This eyeshadow does. not. budge. It does not fade, crease (with eyeshadow primer), or smudge at all throughout the day and still looks flawless at the end of the day. I have a small mirror in my shower for verifying that my face is completely clean of makeup after washing, and I’ve noticed that this eyeshadow seems to be at least somewhat waterproof. I kid you not, it doesn’t move until I use cleansing balm or baby shampoo to remove it. If you need an eyeshadow to hang on all day and look good until it’s time to take it off, this one is a reliable option!

Price

Juvia’s Place Nubian 3 Coral eyeshadow palette is $20.00, which is very reasonable from an affordable brand, which Juvia’s Place is. I hesitate to call it “drugstore” since it is a little more expensive than most drugstore brands, but I digress. I think $20.00 is an excellent price for the quality and versatility of this palette. This palette is tough to beat in general, and also on price!

Packaging

I chose not to include packaging in my rating of this product because the packaging of this product is similar to a lot of eyeshadow palettes and I thought the other rating categories were higher priority. I still want to make a quick note about it in case anyone is curious. This palette comes in heavy cardboard packaging with a magnetic closure, and it’s fairly compact. It would travel very well because the cardboard is sturdy and the palette is small and thin enough to fit easily in most makeup bags.

I think eyeshadow is so much fun and I really enjoyed reviewing this palette. I have more appreciation for this palette now than ever and I’ve owned it for over a year! The colors are truly beautiful and so flattering.

Juvia’s Place Nubian 3 Coral eyeshadow palette encourages creativity with its color story, and it is very easy to use. I think this is an excellent palette for anyone, from someone just developing an interest in makeup, to a seasoned makeup artist.

Have you tried any of the Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palettes? If not, now might be the time! Please let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried Juvia’s Place eyeshadow or any of their other products.

Thank you so much for reading this blog post! I look forward to bringing you 50 more, and beyond. 🙂

Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner–Make Your First Layer of Skincare Count

Niacinamide is by far my favorite skincare ingredient. I make sure to always have at least one product in my skincare routine that includes niacinamide. But really, the more niacinamide I can work in, the better.

A lot of serums and moisturizers contain niacinamide, but it’s also the third ingredient in my morning toner, Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner. I treat toner like primer for the rest of my skincare steps, and I enjoy that with this product I can treat my skin to some extra niacinamide when my skin is fresh and ready to drink up.

I will do a thorough review of the ingredients in this toner later on, but know that niacinamide is a superstar ingredient that works well for almost everyone and provides several benefits to the skin. I always get excited when I find a new product that contains niacinamide. 🙂

This is the first Good Molecules product I’ve reviewed, but I’ve been using some of their products for about four months now. If you aren’t familiar with Good Molecules, it’s a no-frills skincare company that uses high-quality effective ingredients. Good Molecules products are also very affordable, which I appreciate greatly!

Product claims directly from GetGoodMolecules.com

Promote bright, even skin and less visible pores with this alcohol-free toner from Good Molecules. Niacinamide Brightening Toner is formulated with a soothing blend of brightening ingredients that work to reduce the appearance of dullness, uneven skin tone, and enlarged pores.

Please note that I am not a skincare professional. I am simply an individual that enjoys learning about and using skincare products. Speak to your dermatologist or esthetician if you have any concerns.

Packaging & ease of application

While it doesn’t exactly look like luxury packaging, Good Molecules chose very effective packaging for this toner. It comes in an amber glass bottle. Amber glass provides UV protection, so the ingredients are protected from light. Some air can get in through the small opening, but that is very minimal. This type of packaging is ideal to protect the ingredients in this toner.

Not only does the bottle protect the product, but it’s also easy to use. This toner can be applied with a cotton pad or directly from your palms. I apply it with my hands to avoid wasting any of the product. I flip the bottle upside down, let just a drop or two of the toner come out, and then gently pat that into my skin. You might think that flipping the bottle upside down would cause far too much product to come out, but this toner has more viscosity than most other toners, which makes it easy to control how much comes out. This toner is very easy to use!

Hydration

“Brightening” is the property that this toner is known for, but it is also very hydrating. I think it’s important for toners to be hydrating since proper hydration is essential for healthy youthful skin, and I want my skin to already be hydrated before I start applying the rest of my skincare. This toner never lets me down. It feels very hydrating going on my skin. I think part of that comes from the slightly heavier texture this toner has. The texture feels somewhere between water and aloe vera gel. That might sound strange, but my skin drinks it right up!

Team player

When I first tried this toner and noticed the viscous texture, I was concerned that my other skincare products might not layer well on top. I needn’t have worried, because this product absorbs very quickly. I don’t think it even takes a minute to fully sink into my skin. My other skincare products layer perfectly on top of this toner with no pilling or flaking. Excellent team player; easy 10/10. 🙂

Ingredients

Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner contains a conservative 20 ingredients. Even though this is the first Good Molecules product I’ve reviewed, I get the impression that they don’t include anything that isn’t necessary in their products. Here is the full ingredient list for this toner:

Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Betaine, Arbutin, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Rehmannia Glutinosa Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Dextrin

Of the 20 ingredients in this toner, 11 of them provide direct benefit to the skin. That’s just over half which doesn’t sound impressive, but most of them are in the top half of the list which means their concentrations are high enough to do a lot of good for the skin. I’ll list all 11 of the skin-loving ingredients as well as descriptions:

  • Glycerin
    • Natural moisturizer
  • Niacinamide
    • Improves appearance of enlarged pores
    • Regulates oil production
    • Evens skin tone
    • Softens fine lines
  • 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid
    • Very stable form of vitamin C
    • Antioxidant
  • Betaine
    • Gentle hydrating ingredient
    • Known as an osmolyte, which means it helps skin adapt to moisture losses and gains, balancing the skin’s level of hydration
  • Arbutin
    • Fades brown spots by hindering the melanin-forming property of the tyrosinase enzyme
  • Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract
    • Antioxidant
  • Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate
    • Moisturizes and soothes skin
    • Rich in essential minerals, amino acids, beta-glucan, and vitamins
  • Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract
    • Anti-inflammatory
    • Skin-lightener
  • Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract
    • Medicinal Chinese herb
    • Antioxidant
    • Anti-inflammatory
  • Rehmannia Glutinosa Root Extract
    • Medicinal Chinese herb
    • Skin conditioner
    • May help to heal eczema
  • Sodium Hyaluronate
    • Humectant
    • Sodium form of hyaluronic acid

Pretty impressive, especially for a toner! I feel like this toner is packed full of so many good ingredients, it’s more like a serum than a toner.

If you’re curious about the other nine ingredients, they are things like thickeners and gentle preservatives. None of them are harmful in any way.

Price

For a toner from a brand that falls in the “drugstore price range,” $14.00 might seem high for only four ounces of toner. However, when you take into account the glass packaging and stellar ingredient list, I think $14.00 is very reasonable! It’s important to note also, that a little goes a long way with this product. I’ve been using it one or two times a day for a few months and have only used half the bottle, so it will last me at least six months! Most toners would not last that long.

This is the first time since I started reviewing products that I’ve given an overall rating of 10/10! I can always find something that could be improved upon, but not this time. Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner is an all-around good product.

This toner would be an excellent addition to any skincare routine. It provides the hydration and antioxidants that we all need, with the added benefits from niacinamide like improving the appearance of pores and evening skin tone.

Good Molecules claims that this toner will promote bright, even skin and make pores less visible, but I avoid discussing specific skincare claims in my product reviews because it usually takes several months to see those types of results. My skin is also already in pretty good condition since I’ve been using good skincare regularly for a few years now. I don’t usually see very much difference in my skin depending on which specific products I use. I hope that makes sense!

I feel like Good Molecules is such an underrated skincare company. Have you tried any of their products? If you have, please comment below and tell me about your experience!

e.l.f. Wow Brow–Build Voluminous Brows That Won’t Budge

My favorite type of brow product to create perfectly shaped eyebrows is brow pomade. Last month, I reviewed e.l.f. Lock on Liner and Brow Cream. It’s an amazing product, and easy to use, but not the quickest thing to apply. When I don’t want to spend very much time on my eyebrows, I reach for a tinted brow gel instead.

Similar to brow pomade, I use tinted brow gel as a 3-in-1 product to fill in, define, and hold my brow hairs in place. That’s really the only similarity between the two products. I don’t believe any tinted brow gel is capable of perfecting eyebrows like a pomade can, but they are effective for providing some color, shape, and hold. That’s enough for me to feel a little more put together and ready to face the world. The tinted brow gel I’ve been using is also from e.l.f. It’s a relatively new product called Wow Brow.

Brow gels can be used alone or paired with brow powder or a brow pencil. That combination provides more color and definition. I haven’t been using any brow powders or brow pencils, so I use e.l.f. Wow Brow on its own.

Please note that I am not a makeup artist. The opinions expressed in this review are my own, as a regular person that loves makeup.

Inclusivity

It’s really surprising to me that e.l.f. makes this brow gel in five shades, because their Lock on Liner and Brow Cream is much more pigmented and only comes in four shades. I’m not complaining, though! I’m glad they decided to make the shade range for Wow Brow a little bit bigger by adding a black shade.

I think these five shades will work for most people. I use the Taupe shade and I think it would work for most people that have light-colored eyebrows (very light brown, blonde, or gray). Unfortunately, there still isn’t an auburn shade. Auburn-haired people are definitely the minority, so it’s possible that e.l.f. thought they wouldn’t sell enough of that shade if they were to make it. I’m not defending the decision, but I think that’s probably what happened.

Packaging/ease of application

E.l.f. Wow Brow is packaged in a tiny plastic tube with a small wand that looks similar to a mascara wand but much smaller. This type of wand works just as well on eyebrows as it does for eyelashes. It evenly distributes the product through the brow hairs to look very natural. Since I use this brow gel to fill in my brows, I use more product than a lot of people probably do if they’re only using it to hold their eyebrow hairs in place. That means I have to dip the wand back into the tube once or twice per eyebrow. That’s not a complaint, but I wanted to mention it for others that might want to use this product the same way that I do.

My one complaint about the packaging is the size of the brush on the wand. It would be easier to be precise in application if the brush was slightly smaller. It’s not unreasonably large, but it would be an improvement if e.l.f. decided to make it a bit smaller. That would leave more room in the tube for additional product, too!

Volume

This brow gel is not just a simple gel meant for hold. It also contains hair-like fibers that add volume to eyebrows. I always see a huge difference in the texture of my eyebrows after I’ve applied this product. Those fibers make my eyebrows look much more full than they ever do on their own, and without looking overly bushy!

You can see in the side-by-side comparison below that this brow gel vastly improves the appearance of my eyebrows. 🙂

Staying power

Once I apply this brow gel in my eyebrows, they are set all day long. The color never fades and my brow hairs do not move. My eyebrows really have a mind of their own sometimes, but this product has what it takes to get them under control!

This product stays in place so well that I actually have to scrub my eyebrows a little bit to get it to come off with face wash at the end of the day. Not harsh scrubbing, but more than what you’d need to do if you just used a brow powder or brow pencil. I recently started using a cleansing balm and that has made this product much easier to remove!

Price

Since this product has a short shelf life of only three months, I’m very glad that it’s so reasonably priced at only $4.00. Honestly I think you could continue using it longer than three months, but it is a pretty small amount of product so it will get used up quickly if you’re using it daily or even most days.

When comparing the price of this product to other tinted brow gels in the drugstore price range, this one is on the lower end. The only one I found that beats it on price is Essence Make Me Brow at $2.99. That one is also a good tinted brow gel, but it has more of a wet formula. If you’ve tried that and thought it was too wet and maybe a little difficult to work with, I recommend giving e.l.f. Wow Brow a chance. 🙂

E.l.f. Wow Brow gel is an excellent product for efficiently filling in, defining, and holding brow hairs in place. I don’t like my eyebrows, so I also don’t like trying to make them look good, and this product makes it so much easier.

If you’ve been on the hunt for a product that can save you some time on your eyebrows, I’d definitely recommend checking out this brow gel from e.l.f. It’s only $4.00, so definitely worth a shot!

What are your favorite products to use in your eyebrows? Let me know in the comments below!

Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumper–High-Shine Hydrating Lip Gloss

Lip gloss isn’t something that I wear every day, but I think it’s always nice to have because lip gloss is a handy multitasking product. It can be worn alone on a “no makeup day” for hydration or even with a full face of makeup; high shine hydrating lip gloss adds pizzazz to any look. If you really want to amp up your look, you can also use lip gloss as a topper over lip liner or other lip color products. I enjoy using it both ways!

I don’t feel the need to keep many lip glosses in my makeup collection because I prefer sheer or light-colored glosses and to me, most of them look similar once applied, whether worn alone or as a topper. A line of lip glosses that I really enjoy are the Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumpers.

There are 15 shades of Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumpers currently available and ten of those have shimmer. The shade I have is Nude Shimmer which is a “bronzed shimmery nude.” I like shimmer in lip gloss because I think it helps to hide the lines on my lips.

Before I get into the product review, I’d like to address the name of this product. Milani calls it a “lip plumper,” but I don’t believe it actually has a plumping quality like some lip products that literally cause lips to swell. While I don’t think it physically plumps my lips, I do think the shimmer and shine can make lips look larger. I have thin lips, so I’ll take all the help I can get!

Shade range

Before I get into my thoughts on the Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumper shade range, I’ll provide all of the shade names and descriptions on MilaniCosmetics.com:

  • 01 Champagne Nude with shimmer (looks like a light pink nude in photos)
  • 02 Nude Shimmer Bronzed shimmery nude
  • 03 Prismatic Peach Shimmery peach with pink reflects
  • 04 Luminoso Shimmery peach with gold reflects
  • 05 Blush Warm pink (no shimmer)

  • 07 Almost Natural Pale cool toned pink (no shimmer)
  • 08 Soft Rose Mauve pink
  • 10 Golden Dust Shimmery nude with gold reflects
  • 11 Tropical Shine Shimmery coral
  • 12 Sparkling Pink Pink with pink shimmer reflects
  • 13 Rosewood Rosy brown
  • 14 Pink Quartz Warm pink with shimmer
  • 15 Natural Luster Shimmery nude bronze (this description sounds the same as Nude Shimmer, but Natural Luster looks like more of a pinky nude in photos)
  • 16 Rosy Bronze Shimmery bronze with warm undertones

*You might notice that there is no number “9” listed; it looks like that shade was either discontinued or it is currently sold out because there is an “X” in that shade’s place on MilaniCosmetics.com. There is no shade name or description provided.

The shades listed above are all of the standard shades available year-round, but there are currently two other “Holiday Edition” shades available. I’m not sure how long these will be stocked, but they look very pretty if you’re interested in picking them up sometime soon!:

  • Candy Pop Strawberry pink (this shade looks shimmery to me in photos)
  • Snowflake Clear with silver shimmer

Milani did a good job of providing a wide selection of color options in this shade range. I think they should add a clear gloss because a lot of people prefer to use clear lip glosses for layering over other products.

For glosses with full-coverage color, Milani has another line called Amore Shine Liquid Lip Color (“liquid lip color” would usually imply that the product is a liquid lipstick, but that is not the case here). There are currently 11 shades available in that line, ranging from medium to deep tones.

Packaging/ease of application

This product is packaged like a typical lip gloss. It comes in a plastic tube with a doe foot applicator. I like that type of applicator for lip gloss because it picks up enough product that you don’t have to double-dip to get enough product. The lip gloss itself is smooth and glides over the lips effortlessly!

Hydration

A lot of lip products that are considered “makeup” instead of “lip care” are not very hydrating, and some are actually dehydrating. This lip gloss provides a lot of hydration. Since it is a lip gloss, it isn’t very long wearing, but the hydration it provides stays behind long after the shine has worn away. Depending on how much I’m drinking or eating while wearing this product, I’d say the hydration sticks around for 3-6 hours. I think that’s really good for a lip gloss!

Team player

I usually wear this lip gloss by itself, but I will occasionally layer it over a lip liner, tinted lip balm, or lipstick. It layers very well over lip liner or other thin lip products like tinted lip balm, but I don’t like it as well over lipsticks. If I want to wear it over lipstick, I have to remember to blot first. That’s because this lip gloss has a pretty thick texture. It’s too heavy to wear over a lipstick unless there is only a very thin layer of lipstick applied.

In this side-by-side comparison, in the photo on the right, I layered my Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumper in the shade Nude Shimmer over a Colourpop tinted lip balm (Just a Tint Lip Crayon).

I’d also like to mention here that this is a sticky lip gloss. Milani claims that this product is lightweight and non-sticky, but I have to disagree. I don’t notice it if I’m careful not to apply very much, but if I accidentally use too much it does that “stringy” thing that some sticky lip glosses do. I wouldn’t tell anyone not to buy it for this reason because it’s more of a “user error” than anything else. Use sparingly and you shouldn’t have any problems. 🙂

Price

Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumper is $8.99 which is on the higher side for drugstore lip glosses. There are some lip glosses available for prices as low as $2.99. However, I think this Milani lip gloss is superior to most other drugstore lip glosses, especially the glosses that include shimmer. A lot of affordable shimmery lip glosses feel chunky, whereas these feel smooth (which is obviously much more comfortable). The Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumpers are also a bit larger than many similar products, so they are a good value per ounce.

Milani Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumpers are excellent quality. There are so many shades I’d like to try! These lip glosses are easy, versatile, and comfortable…everything I look for in a lip gloss!

If you’re looking for a lip product to give you a little extra shine and hydration, these Milani lip glosses won’t disappoint. They are the best-selling lip plumpers in America for good reason!

Have you ever tried Milani lip products? I have only tried their lip glosses, but Milani is known for creating high quality lip products so I’d like to hear about your favorites! Please comment below. 🙂

Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream–Preserve Youthfulness with Multi-Peptides

I prefer gel or lightweight cream moisturizers for daytime because they wear well under makeup and I like that thin consistency. At night though, I reach for a heavier nourishing moisturizer instead. Even though I have combination skin, I want to make sure I’m keeping my skin sufficiently hydrated and one good way of doing that is by using a heavier moisturizer at night.

I’ve tried many night creams through the years, at various price points. I’m very impressed by the one I’m using now, and it’s very affordable. I first heard about Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream on YouTube. It was mentioned as a dupe for the very expensive Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream. I bought that one once before and enjoyed it, but can’t justify paying $68.00 for it again (plus, Drunk Elephant was acquired by Shiseido, which is not cruelty-free). I will discuss this more later on, but I will tell you now that I definitely think Acure’s Night Cream is a much better value compared to Drunk Elephant’s “Protini.”

Multi-peptides, ferulic acid & vitamin C, age performance.

Lightweight whipped superfood cream with multi-peptides, vitamin C, ferulic acid, glacial glycoproteins to soothe and hydrate.

Packaging/ease of application

Acure made a very wise choice in packaging for this night cream. It is packaged in an opaque squeeze tube. This packaging doesn’t allow any light to reach the product, and only very little air can get to it when it is being dispensed. This is important for preserving the active ingredients to make sure they remain effective while you’re using the product. The squeeze tube also makes it easy to dispense the correct amount, with minimized risk of contamination since there is no need to dip fingers into the product.

This night cream is quite a thick moisturizer. That isn’t a bad thing, but it does mean that this product isn’t the easiest to blend into the skin. It does blend in completely, but requires more effort than a lightweight moisturizer.

Hydration

Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream is one of the most hydrating moisturizers I’ve ever used. It was an easy decision giving this category 10/10! Since this night cream is thick, it feels like it really locks in the moisture. That hydration lasts all night. My skin still feels soft and hydrated when I wake up every morning after applying this product.

Team player

The main drawback about the thick texture of this night cream is the fact that it isn’t easy to layer immediately over other skincare products. Before night cream, my night time skincare regimen after cleansing includes toner, (sometimes) BHA exfoliant, serum, and eye cream. I prefer to get all of my skincare applied as quickly as I can so I can snuggle up in bed with my Kindle early enough to read a few chapters before going to sleep. Unfortunately, this product applies much more easily if I wait 5-10 minutes between the other steps of my routine and applying this night cream.

One way to thin this product and make it easier to apply over other products, would be to mix a serum or oil with it. I haven’t tried that myself since I prefer applying each of my skincare steps individually, but I wanted to suggest this tip for anyone interested in trying this product.

Ingredients

Up to this point, you might be thinking “this night cream just sounds OK…what makes it special?” The answer is found in the ingredient list!

WATER/AQUA/EAU, GLYCERIN, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CETEARYL OLIVATE, SORBITAN OLIVATE, SCLEROCARYA BIRREA (MARULA) SEED OIL, NYMPHAEA ALBA ROOT EXTRACT, SH-OLIGOPEPTIDE-1, SH-OLIGOPEPTIDE-2, SH-POLYPEPTIDE-1, SH-POLYPEPTIDE-9, SH-POLYPEPTIDE-11, COPPER PALMITOYL HEPTAPEPTIDE-14, HEPTAPEPTIDE-15 PALMITATE, PALMITOYL TETRAPEPTIDE-7, PALMITOYL TRIPEPTIDE-1 (PEPTIDE BLEND), FERULIC ACID, ASCORBIC GLUCOSIDE (VITAMIN C), COCONUT ALKANES, PSEUDOALTEROMONAS FERMENT EXTRACT (GLACIAL GLYCOPROTEINS), SALICYLIC ACID COCO-CAPRYLATE/CAPRATE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, ASPARTIC ACID, LINOLEIC ACID, LINOLENIC ACID, LECITHIN, SODIUM PCA, PCA, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, LACTIC ACID/GLYCOLIC ACID COPOLYMER, CURCUMA LONGA (TURMERIC) ROOT EXTRACT, SYMPHYTUM OFFICINALE CALLUS CULTURE EXTRACT.

This is a long list (33 ingredients to be exact) that looks pretty intimidating. Honestly, some of these ingredients are very sophisticated and difficult for me to understand since science has never been my strength. I will do my best to describe this product’s formula anyway!

First of all, it’s important to note that 27 of the 33 ingredients provide direct benefits to the skin. That’s 81.8%, which is much higher than average! I doubt that many of you want to read about all 27 of those ingredients, so I’ll pare it down slightly by combining the peptides:

  • Glycerin
    • Natural moisturizer
  • Cetearyl olivate & sorbitan olivate
    • Paired together, these ingredients generate liquid crystal structures that are similar to the outer layer of the skin
    • Moisturizing
    • Barrier-repairing
  • Marula seed oil
    • Improves skin hydration and smoothness
    • Reduces redness
    • Rich in fatty acids (oleic, palmitic, linoleic)
    • Contains antioxidants including vitamin E
  • Nymphaea alba root extract
    • Skin conditioner
    • Calms irritated skin
  • Peptides (there are nine unique peptide ingredients, but many of them share properties)
    • Improve elasticity and reduce wrinkles by synthesising collagen and elastin
    • Stimulate skin regeneration and healing
  • Ferulic acid
    • Antioxidant
    • Stabilizes vitamin C
  • Ascorbic glucoside
    • Stable form of vitamin C combined with glucose (breaks down to pure vitamin C)
    • Antioxidant
  • Pseudoalteromonas ferment extract
    • Protects skin from dryness and redness
    • Promotes skin regeneration and smoothness by stimulating collagen and elastin synthesis
    • Regulates oil production and reduces pore size
  • Salicylic acid
    • BHA
    • Anti-inflammatory
  • Sodium hyaluronate
    • Humectant (sodium form of hyaluronic acid)
  • Aspartic acid
    • Amino acid that hydrates the skin
  • Linoleic acid
    • Omega-6 fatty acid
    • Very important for maintaining a healthy skin barrier
    • Lightens hyperpigmentation
  • Linolenic acid
    • Omega-3 fatty acid
    • Modulates the immune response of the epidermis
    • Lightens hyperpigmentation
  • Lecithin
    • Water-binding agent
    • Has skin-restoring property
  • Sodium PCA
    • Hydrates and replenishes skin
  • PCA
    • Derived from amino acids
    • Humectant
  • Lactic acid/glycolic acid copolymer
    • Skin conditioner
  • Turmeric root extract
    • Anti-inflammatory
    • Antimicrobial
    • Potent antioxidant
    • Brightens skin

* Salicylic acid and coco-caprylate/caprate are listed together as one ingredient on the ingredient list, but I was unable to find any information on “Salicylic acid coco-caprylate/caprate” in my research, so I split it into two separate ingredients. I think Acure may have made a typo with these two ingredients.

I am very impressed by the number of beneficial ingredients in this night cream. It seems to have it all, except for my favorite ingredient (niacinamide), but I can forgive that since there are so many other rockstar ingredients in this formula!

There are five ingredients in this formula that support the formula but don’t directly benefit the skin. They are water (solvent), cetearyl alcohol (thickener), coconut alkanes (emollient), coco-caprylate/caprate (emollient), and sorbitan isostearate (emulsifier).

Lastly, there is one ingredient that could be harmful to the skin: symphytum officinale callus culture extract. I had a hard time finding detailed information on this ingredient, but it is a skin-soothing ingredient that is meant to be used short-term in small concentrations. If too much is used, it could irritate skin. Fortunately, this is the very last ingredient on the list, which means there is a very low concentration (probably not enough to be harmful for anyone).

Price

I consider Acure to be a “high-end drugstore brand” meaning that their prices are still comparatively affordable compared to a lot of actual high-end brands, but their products tend to be more expensive than a lot of similar products available in the “drugstore” price range. Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream is $19.99. I don’t mind paying that price since this is such a good quality product. I expect to pay a little more when a product has an ingredient list as impressive as this one.

While I don’t mind paying $19.99 for this product, I do wish it was slightly less expensive because I have to use more of this product than I do other moisturizers (due to the thick texture). I’m definitely going through this more quickly than I have other moisturizers recently.

Dupe for Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream?

What is a dupe? A dupe is a more affordable alternative to an expensive product. Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream of course is not an exact dupe for Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream, but these two formulas are very similar. Most notably, they contain the same nine peptide ingredients and they’re even in the same order! There are several other ingredients that are also found in both products, but frankly there are too many to list.

One thing I like better about the Acure night cream vs. DE’s “Protini” is that it contains vitamin C and ferulic acid (Protini doesn’t contain either of these ingredients). To be fair, the more expensive DE product contains several beneficial ingredients that the Acure dupe does not have, but they are all below the peptides and therefore those ingredients likely are at quite low concentrations.

As far as texture goes, Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream is much thicker than Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream which has a light gel-cream texture. For that reason, I think the Acure night cream is a much better choice for anyone with dry skin or looking for a more hydrating product to use at night.

Then you must take into consideration the vast difference in price; Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream is less than a third of the price of Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream!

In my opinion, there is no contest: Acure wins! And of course, Acure is 100% cruelty-free! 😉

Acure Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream doesn’t look like a glamorous product, but it really is! It was named so well, because the ingredients (especially the peptides) used in this formula truly do have a rejuvenating effect on the skin.

I would recommend this product to absolutely anyone looking for a new night cream. I think it would work so well for any skin type, especially during these cooler months when we’re exposed to a lot of dry air.

This is the first skincare product I’ve ever used from Acure. Do you have any experience with this brand? If you have, please share your experience below!

Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer–Multitasking Spray for Beautiful Healthy Hair

I’ve worn my hair long almost my entire life. A lot of people enjoy visiting the salon to get their hair cut, styled, etc., but that’s not me. I’m very low maintenance with my hair and only get it cut every six months at most. Due to the pandemic, I’m waiting even longer to get my hair cut than I normally would. I think it’s now been about ten months since I had a trim, and my hair has been looking a bit damaged because of it.

To prevent unnecessary damage to my hair (and because I don’t enjoy styling my hair), I almost never use hot tools. I put my hair up in a Turbie Twist when I get out of the shower, comb out the tangles, and then let it air dry. I know a lot of people aren’t able to do that depending on hair type, so I’m grateful that mine is so easy to manage! Another thing I do to keep my hair looking as healthy as possible, is to use Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer. It’s a leave-in spray that has ten benefits and can be combed through wet or dry hair.

Product claims directly from Eva-NYC.com

Infused with Argan Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil to give your hair its daily dose of vitamins and nutrients, this multitasking formula does it all: detangles, reduces frizz, strengthens, softens, cuts drying time, adds shine, nourishes, smooths, and protects against thermal and UV damage. With 10 benefits in one spray you’ll save precious drying time AND vanity space.

    • Price: 10/10

Ease of application

This primer spray comes packaged in a very nice spray bottle. There is no cap, but there is a “lock” to easily open or close the sprayer. The sprayer or “mister” delivers a fine spray that makes it easy to apply just the right amount of product to your hair. I focus it mostly on the ends of my hair since my hair gets oily very quickly and this product would make that worse if I sprayed it too close to the top of my head.

Some other leave-in sprays are heavy and leave hair feeling like it has residue on it. Thankfully, this one is very lightweight which makes it easy to distribute through the hair. I usually use it on dry hair that’s already detangled, so I can use a brush or comb. If using on damp or wet hair (which is what Eva NYC advises) right out of the shower, it would definitely be best to use a wide-toothed comb to avoid breakage while detangling.

Benefits

Eva NYC makes a bold claim with this product, stating that it provides ten benefits to the hair. I absolutely see benefits from this product, but not all ten apply to me.

For example, I don’t need heat protection since I don’t use hot tools to style my hair. On that same note, I can’t speak to the “cuts drying time” claim since I air dry my hair and don’t pay attention to how long it takes (there is only supposed to be a 16% reduction in drying time anyway, which might be too small of a difference to notice).

I’d like to discuss the benefits that I can actually see and feel. I am not denying any of Eva NYC’s claims, but I can only address some of them specifically:

  • Reduces frizz: My hair is wavy and does get frizzy often. This spray eliminates frizz immediately! (It’s a very obvious difference since I usually use this product on dry hair instead of wet hair)
  • Detangles: During the rare times that I use this spray on wet hair, I do notice that it makes detangling my hair much easier. I really should use it on wet hair more often because it is not easy to detangle my thick hair!
  • Softens: My hair is a bit coarse, so it isn’t very soft on its own. When I spray this stuff on my hair, it instantly feels softer!
  • Adds shine: I can confirm this claim, too! My hair always looks shiny and healthy when I use this spray.
  • Smooths: My hair has a mind of its own and likes to stick out in random places sometimes. This product does such a good job of smoothing it down. No hairspray needed!

I had my husband take photos of my hair before and after I applied this primer spray one morning this week. It’s a subtle difference, but you can see that my hair is frizz-free, smooth, and shiny in the “after” photo. 🙂

Ingredients

This product has a simple ingredient list. It only contains eleven ingredients!

Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Fragrance, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Citronellol, Coumarin

I’ll get the bad out of the way first this time. This product contains seven fragrance ingredients (the last seven listed). That is shocking to me, especially considering there are only eleven total ingredients. Fortunately, this is a product that is applied to hair, not skin. That means that most people shouldn’t experience any irritation from this product as long as it’s not being sprayed onto the skin. People that know they’re sensitive to fragrance ingredients should probably avoid this product.

The third and fourth ingredients on the list are the two standout ingredients that provide many benefits to the hair:

  • Argan oil
    • Nourishes
    • Smooths frizz
    • Adds shine
    • UV protection
    • Antioxidant
  • Sunflower seed oil
    • Stops hair breakage
    • Retains moisture
    • Smooths split ends
    • Makes hair feel softer

It’s great to see both argan oil and sunflower seed oil in this product since they provide so many wonderful benefits to the hair!

There are two other ingredients in this product that I have labeled as “neutral,” meaning that they don’t directly benefit the hair and they also shouldn’t have any harmful effects. These are both silicones that make the formula more effective:

  • Cyclopentasiloxane
    • Helps the product dry more quickly (I’m not sure if this helps with reducing the hair’s drying time or not)
    • Allows the product to spread more easily
  • Trimethylsiloxysilicate
    • Creates a permeable film which provides humidity-resistance

Overall, I like the ingredients Eva NYC used for this product. I don’t mind the silicones, but I do wish they hadn’t used quite so many fragrance ingredients. On the other hand, I really like the way this product smells so I can’t complain about those ingredients too much!

Fragrance

I don’t like fragrance in my skincare or makeup products, but I enjoy fragrance in my hair products. This primer spray is heavily fragranced. I think it’s a little bit too strong actually (that’s why I deducted one point from this category), but it has a very pleasant scent! It lingers on my hair all day and I like that. I can’t really describe how it smells, but Eva NYC was kind enough to provide information on the fragrance notes:

  • Top: Freesia, Plum
  • Heart: White Flowers (Jasmine, Magnolia, Gardenia)
  • Dry Down: Woody Warm Amber, Bourbon Vanilla, White Musk

If I saw those fragrance notes without actually smelling this product, I wouldn’t be interested. I don’t usually like floral scents. This product really does smell amazing, though!

Price

I think Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer is very fairly priced at $12.00. This price is consistent with other Eva NYC products, and it’s lower than prices of many similar products on the market. I think the full-size bottle is a really good value because it’s lasted me several months. Granted, I don’t use it every day, but I still think it’s lasted longer than similar products I’ve used.

I’ve really been enjoying Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer! It’s my favorite part of my hair care routine. I appreciate that it helps me keep my hair looking healthy even though it’s been far too long since my last trim.

I think this product would be beneficial for all hair types. The only people that probably should avoid it, are those with sensitive skin. I feel like I say that in a lot of my posts. I apologize to all my readers with sensitive skin! I’m sure it can be difficult finding gentle products that are still effective.

Do you use a primer spray or any other type of leave-in conditioner in your hair care routine? I think it’s such an easy step that makes a big difference in the health and appearance of hair. 🙂

Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder–Foolproof Bronzer for a Natural Sunny Glow

I used to be so intimidated by bronzers; I didn’t think any of them would work on my fair skin. When I first became interested in makeup, I really didn’t even understand the purpose of bronzer. After watching a lot of makeup tutorials on YouTube and seeing people of many different skin tones using bronzer to add a sunny glow to their skin or to contour, I decided to take the plunge and try bronzer for myself. I got the very popular Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in the original Bronzer shade. I fell in love with it almost instantly and repurchased it after I ran out of my first compact. I thought that would always be my go-to bronzer until I found out that Physicians Formula is no longer cruelty-free (they started selling in mainland China).

I spent a lot of time looking for a cruelty-free alternative for the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. I had to be very picky since a lot of bronzers are too dark for fair skin. I’m a big fan of Milani’s blushes and I had heard some of the YouTubers I follow recommend the Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder. After looking at the shade options, I thought the lightest shade (Sun Light) might work well for me. I’m so glad I gave it a chance, because I actually like it better than my old Butter Bronzer that I’m still trying to work through.

Product claims directly from MilaniCosmetics.com

Inclusivity

Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder is available in four shades. That’s not bad for a drugstore brand since some competitors only offer one bronzer shade, and many offer two or three. I’ll put Milani’s descriptions of the four shades below:

  • Sun Light is a light neutral brown
  • Sun Kissed is a medium cool brown
  • Sun Tan is a medium warm brown
  • Sun Drenched is a deep tan with red undertone

At first glance, these shades might look sufficient. However, when looking at swatches of all the shades, the two medium shades aren’t that much darker than the light shade. That would be fine if there were a few more shades after the light and medium options, but there is only one more. Sun Drenched is definitely the darkest of the bunch, but to me it looks like it would be too light for a lot of people with deep skin tones. Also, it would’ve been nice if they offered a deep shade with a neutral or cool undertone.

I’m glad that Milani offers more bronzer shades than some competitors, but I think they really need to add a few more. This is a popular product and I’m sure they could reach a larger audience if they would expand the shade range.

I’m grateful that the Sun Light shade works so well for me. The color of that shade is warm enough to be used to warm up my complexion, while also cool enough to be used for contouring my cheekbones on the rare occasions that I want to contour.

Ease of application

This bronzer has a very soft smooth formula. It is so easy to blend into the skin and never looks streaky. Like I mentioned in the previous section, this bronzer can also be used for both warming up the complexion and contouring. It’s nice that this product can be used for both steps so that a separate contour powder isn’t needed.

I did a side-by-side comparison this morning of my makeup before and after applying Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder to show the Sun Light color and how natural it looks on me. I wanted to include this in the “ease of application” category because I’m not careful when I apply my bronzer, but it’s so easy to apply you can’t even tell. It always looks good!

Pigmentation

One thing that helps with this product’s ease of application, is its pigmentation. I don’t have experience with many bronzers, so I will use Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer for comparison. That bronzer is not very pigmented, so quite a lot of product needs to be used, even on my fair skin. Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder has more pigmentation so less product is needed to achieve the perfect natural glow. While it is more pigmented than the Butter Bronzer, the Milani bronzer is not so pigmented that it’s intimidating in any way. I think it strikes the perfect balance as far as the level of pigmentation goes.

Staying power

I usually wear my makeup for about twelve hours, sometimes longer. At the end of the day, this bronzer looks exactly the same as when it’s freshly applied! That still holds true if I’ve been rained on, taken a nap, etc. It wears so well and I’m always impressed when I see that it hasn’t faded. According to Milani, the argan oil used in this formula is what makes it have such a good wear-time. Thanks argan oil! 🙂

Price

Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder is $9.99. I looked at bronzers from several other drugstore brands, and this price seems to be about the middle of the road. There are some that are around $5.00, and others that are $15+. My previous favorite, Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, is $15.99 and I think that’s too expensive for a drugstore bronzer (though that brand usually is on the pricier side so that price doesn’t come as a surprise). I think that $9.99 for this Milani bronzer is very fair, especially considering that a little goes a long way.

I am so happy with the Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder, it will probably be quite some time before you see another bronzer review from me. This formula and shade are perfect!

If there is a shade available that would work for your skin tone, I highly recommend it!

What is your favorite cruelty-free bronzer? While I don’t feel the need to buy any others at this time, I’m always curious to learn what else is out there.
