With most lip products, there’s a choice that must be made. Do I want long-lasting bold color, or a glossy finish? The phrase “You can’t have your cake and eat it too” comes to mind. Fortunately, beauty brands are always innovating to give consumers what we want! Kiko Milano is one of those brands and well-known for its quality lip products. They were able to formulate a fantastic product to address the desire for both long-lasting intense lip color and a glossy finish: Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch.
This is a 2-step liquid lipstick with a base color and glossy top coat. The base color is applied first and dries within a minute. Then the glossy top coat can be applied to add a beautiful shine. You might be wondering what’s special about this formula since lipgloss can be applied over any liquid lipstick. The unique idea behind this product is that the color is meant to remain locked in place even with the gloss top coat applied.
This is not the first product of this kind I’ve come across. CoverGirl makes a similar product called Outlast All Day Lip Color with Topcoat. Unfortunately, CoverGirl is owned by Coty, and therefore not 100% cruelty-free by my standards. Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch is the only truly cruelty-free product of this type that I’ve found.
New to Kiko Milano?
Me too! I think I’d heard of Kiko Milano in beauty groups with international members in the past, but it wasn’t until this year that I learned their products are sold in the USA. Once I started looking at the website, I wanted to order everything! The lip products were what caught my eye most and I ordered four lip products all at once (that is not normal for me!).
Kiko Milano is an Italian beauty brand that was founded in 1997. It features a wide variety of makeup, skincare, nail care, tools, and accessories. Kiko Milano is committed to creating innovative high-performance products at affordable prices, while also being 100% cruelty-free!
FYI, Kiko Milano is often referred to as simply “Kiko” so I will sometimes refer to the brand that way in this review and future reviews.

The shade range for Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch lipsticks is impressive! There are 26 shades including browns, pinks, reds, and purples, in almost every variation you can imagine. There is a good variety of undertones in this shade range as well. Kiko doesn’t provide descriptions of any of the shades, but many of the shade names are quite descriptive so I’ll share them below:
- 101 Soft Rose
- 102 Satin Rosy Beige
- 103 Natural Rose

*I assume that shades 124-128 were discontinued as they are no longer shown on KikoCosmetics.com.
You can see side-by-side arm swatches of shades 101-123 online. I’m so glad they did that instead of individual swatches, because some of the shades are similar.
I am really happy with this shade range! I have the shade 107 (Cherry Red) and I couldn’t be more pleased with the color. It’s the perfect red for me; not too warm or cool.
There is something for everyone, or almost everyone, in this range. My only small complaint about this shade range is that there aren’t any “eccentric” colors like blue or black. I’m not interested in using unusual lipstick colors myself, but I’ve noticed lately that a lot of the large lipstick ranges (especially for matte/long-wearing lipsticks) include at least one or two of those types of shades.
Packaging/ease of application
Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch is a double ended lip product with the base color on one end and the glossy top coat on the other. Each end has its own applicator. The base color has a small doe foot applicator that comes to a point for precise application. This applicator would be perfect if it picked up a little bit more product. I have small lips and this applicator picks up just barely enough product to completely cover my lips.
The glossy top coat has a brush applicator that resembles a nail polish brush, but a bit more narrow so that it can be applied with precision. I have noticed that this brush is picking up a bit of color from the colored base, but I think that’s probably inevitable with this type of product. The lip gloss itself remains clear, so this is not a problem.
All components of this product’s packaging are made out of plastic. That doesn’t take away from its high-end feel, however! Kiko’s Unlimited Double Touch might be the prettiest lip product in my collection. I think this product looks like it comes from a very high-end luxury brand. I’m new to the brand, but from what I’ve seen Kiko makes some of the most beautiful makeup products on the market. This one is no exception! 🙂
This lipstick (the base coat) is highly pigmented like most liquid lipsticks. Because of that, it’s not the easiest lip product to apply. It requires patience to make sure it stays within the lip line. I didn’t take away any points for this because it’s to be expected that this type of product will require more effort. Also, applying lip liner first will help immensely!
After allowing a minute for the base color to dry, the glossy top coat is very easy to apply. I’m not nearly as careful when applying it because the lip gloss is clear. I just apply a little on bottom and top, then rub my lips together. I find that that method distributes the product evenly and looks good every time.
While the glossy top coat makes lips look plumped and shiny, it isn’t actually necessary. The lipstick can be worn alone if a more matte look is desired.
You might’ve been surprised or even shocked to see that I scored Unlimited Double Touch 10/10 for hydration. Long-wearing liquid lipsticks are notorious for making lips look and feel dry. For that reason, a lot of people avoid them completely.
While Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch is far from being the most hydrating lip product out there, it is the most hydrating long-wear liquid lipstick I’ve ever tried. The gloss definitely helps, but even without the gloss, this lipstick formula never makes my lips look or feel dry. It has a slight tackiness to it, but that isn’t bothersome; that feeling lets me know there’s moisture on my lips.
I’ve been wearing this lipstick every day for a few days now and I’ve found that my lips never feel dry when it’s on, even if I’ve been wearing it for hours. I’m not sure how Kiko accomplished this since the formula doesn’t appear to contain any special hydrating ingredients.
Kiko claims that Unlimited Double Touch lipstick lasts up to 12 hours. That’s an impressive claim! But is it true?
I definitely agree that this is a long-wearing lip product, but its staying power isn’t quite as impressive as I expected based on Kiko’s claim. I’m able to eat small snacks and drink without the longevity of this lipstick being affected. However, I do eat three meals a day, and therefore I’m unable to achieve the 12 hours of wear time that may be possible for some others. Greasy foods especially will significantly break down this lipstick (that’s true of all lipsticks I’ve tried).
As long as I don’t eat anything that’s very greasy, this lipstick does hold up very well. I’ve found that it never smudges and it’s transfer-proof! Not just “kinda sorta transfer-proof” like some, either! I can drink out of a clear glass while wearing this lipstick, and there is no visible residue left behind (except the lip gloss if I still have it on).
As expected, the staying power of the lip gloss is not anything spectacular. I’d say it performs similarly to most lip glosses. I drink a lot of water throughout the day, and more of the gloss comes off each time I take a sip. Some of its moisture stays behind on my lips, but the glossy appearance doesn’t last very long.
While Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch is the only 100% cruelty-free product of its kind (that I’m aware of), and therefore it’s difficult to compare to other products, I can say with confidence that it’s priced very well! It’s not often that a product impresses me as much as this one has. It definitely performs and looks like a luxury product. I could see a high-end brand charging $25+ for a comparable product, but Kiko’s is only $12.99!
I mentioned previously that CoverGirl has a similar product. That one is priced a little lower at only $10.99, but it’s not 100% cruelty-free. I also noticed that it contains a smaller amount of product. Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch is definitely the way to go if you’ve had your eye on CoverGirl Outlast All Day Lip Color!
Wondering why all these product photos were taken with sunglasses? Well, it’s because I think bold red lips look perfect worn with cat-eye sunglasses! Both are classic and beautiful.
I am truly so happy that I discovered Kiko Milano and their Unlimited Double Touch lipstick. This is definitely a stand-out product in my collection and I’m very tempted to buy several more shades!
Kiko did a wonderful job formulating and designing this product. It’s the perfect solution for those of us that want long-wearing intense lip color that also feels hydrating. I would highly recommend Kiko Milano Unlimited Double Touch to anyone that enjoys lipstick.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for sticking with me to the end! Have you tried Unlimited Double Touch or any other Kiko Milano lip products? What about other types of products from Kiko Milano? I’m so impressed with this lipstick, I’d love suggestions for other Kiko products! Please comment below. 🙂
