Hello friends of IntegriBeauty! My name is Ryan and I’m here to share a product review from a no-frills male perspective. I’m very low-maintenance. The only products I use that could be considered part of the beauty realm are shampoo, bar soap, face wash, and deodorant. As Lauren’s husband, I am often fortunate enough to have new face washes show up that will address the skin concerns that I never even realized I had! Lauren tells me that I have very oily skin, but I still need something hydrating so my skin won’t over-produce oil.
One of those products that Lauren sneaked into my shower was Pacifica’s Cosmic Hemp Balancing Face Wash. Since every person should be washing their face, even guys like me that don’t generally care about skincare, I thought it would be good for me to write a review on this face wash I’ve been using.

As Lauren always says, please note that I am not a skincare professional. I am simply an individual that enjoys learning about new things, and in this case, skincare products. Speak to your dermatologist or esthetician if you have any concerns.
I have oily skin and only wash my face once a day (to Lauren’s dismay), so I need a face wash that is very effective at removing all of my excess oils. Pacifica’s Cosmic Hemp Balancing Face Wash does a really good job at removing those excess oils without drying my face out.
I have found, however, that I have to scrub pretty hard in order to remove sunscreen fully on the first attempt. This scrubbing is made much easier by using e.l.f.’s Massaging Facial Cleanser tool. Due to the need to scrub extra hard to remove sunscreen I have taken one point from this category.
aqua, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, hemp oil extract, sodium astrocaryum murumuruate, aspartic acid, glycine, arginine, alanine, serine, valine, proline, threonine, isoleucine, histidine, phenylalanine, sodium gluconate, sodium lactate, xanthan gum, sodium PCA, melia azadirachta flower extract, coccinia indica fruit extract, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, polysorbate 20,citric acid, parfum (natural)
I did a deep dive on this ingredients list and this face wash is packed full of amino acids. In fact, 12 of the 26 ingredients provide amino acids. Those amino acids are what help hydrate your skin. This is important for me because I do not use any type of moisturizer.
The hemp oil extract is an active ingredient, providing a lot of benefits to the skin. It’s such a great skincare ingredient, it probably deserves its own post. Some of the benefits of hemp oil are the amino acids and vitamin E, which help strengthen and hydrate your skin. It can also help to regulate oil production, which is great for my oily skin.
The only potentially problematic ingredient I see in this product is the “parfum.” Fragrance can often cause issues for people with sensitive skin. I do have sensitive skin, and this face wash has not caused any issues for me. I have had products with a stronger fragrance that irritated my skin, but the fragrance in this product is very mild. Though this ingredient is very low on the list and listed as a natural fragrance it still is the reason I took a point away from the ingredients category.
This product comes in a pump bottle. I have found that a single pump distributes the perfect amount for my face (including my beard!) on a normal day. On days where I have sunscreen on, I generally need one and a half or two pumps. I know I should be wearing sunscreen daily. Lauren has informed me of this. I am just a bit too stubborn it would seem.
I removed one point from this category because the pump tends to get some dried up product that will partially clog the opening. This partial clog can sometimes lead to a “rogue stream” where it shoots some product off to the side.
Also, due to the fact that there is no cap to protect the pump, this product is not travel friendly. If you plan on doing any travelling you may want to find a backup face wash, or get a little travel size bottle that you can transfer some into.
This face wash is a liquid that is viscous enough to be easily contained in your hand, while still being very easy to get out with the pump. It lathers up to a gentle foamy texture. It does not contain any exfoliating ingredients, so if you don’t like how those feel on your skin then you don’t need to worry about this face wash. This product doesn’t feel in any way harsh on my skin.
I have typically been the kind of guy that will buy that cheapest bottle at the store that claims to be an all in one product. I don’t really have any idea of how much a dedicated face wash should cost. Lauren is generally the one to make those purchasing decisions. However, I do know that Pacifica products are found on the more affordable side of Lauren’s favorite store, Ulta Beauty. That tells me that their prices are pretty reasonable.
For more information, I turned to my favorite research tool, Google. I did a search for “face wash,” and nearly every single product that was being advertised was more expensive than Pacifica’s. Some of them were significantly more expensive. I have no qualms with paying $10 for this product, especially since it lasts a very long time when just using one pump at a time.
It is recommended to wash your face twice a day. I, however, only wash my face once per day. If you are like me then it is important to get the best possible benefit from that one washing. Pacifica’s Cosmic Hemp Balancing Face Wash can help maintain moisturized skin and balance out oil production between washings.
I recommend giving this product a try the next time you are looking for a new face wash! If you want something with a little more scent, and is a bit easier to travel with, check out Lauren’s review of Pacifica’s Coconut Milk Cream to Foam Face Wash. I’ve tried that one also, and both are excellent face wash options!
