Summer will soon be coming to an end, but we still have plenty of warm days ahead. If you’re like me, you want to keep wearing sandals, capris, shorts, and the occasional dress, for as long as possible. Even though many of us aren’t leaving the house as often as we used to, I think it’s always more comfortable dressing for warm weather with silky smooth legs.
There are so many options out there for shaving products. There are shaving foams, gels, creams, and oils. I used to always use shaving gel or shaving cream designed for sensitive skin, since I’m prone to razor burn and cut my ankles often.
I avoided shave oils until this year for a couple of reasons. First off, I like to be able to easily see where I’ve already shaved so I don’t go over any area more than needed. I was also worried that any oil-based product in the shower would be too slippery and drop me like a sack of potatoes!
Since the shave gels and creams I used to use never seemed to meet my high expectations, I recently tried a shave oil for the first time.

What finally convinced me was my favorite YouTuber mentioning her favorite shave oil in several of her videos. I thought “what do I have to lose?” and bought a bottle of Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil.
I quickly realized a couple of things once I started using this shave oil. I’ve found that not being able to see where I’ve shaved, doesn’t bother me nearly as much as I expected. I just start in the middle and work my way around like always. Also, I haven’t had any problems with my shower getting too slippery. I’m a klutz but haven’t fallen even once! 🙂
I have really been enjoying the Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil and will explain everything I love about it in my detailed review below!

Important note about my product review
I have the Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil in the Pomegranate Citrus scent. I believe this scent has been discontinued because it is no longer listed on TreeHutShea.com or Ulta.com. I reached out to Tree Hut for confirmation but have not received a response. The Pomegranate Citrus scent is still available on Amazon (for $2.00 less than the other three fragrances available), but that may only last until they sell the remaining inventory. If you enjoy citrusy scents, I’m sure you would enjoy the Pomegranate Citrus scent. Move quickly to order from Amazon if this scent appeals to you! Since I do not own the other scents, my review is only based on the Pomegranate Citrus scented Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil.

Closeness of shave
I thought I was getting a pretty close shave with other shaving products I used in the past, but they can’t compete with this shave oil. I don’t know what kind of wizardry Tree Hut used, but their shave oil somehow reduces resistance between the razor and skin to allow for the closest shave I’ve ever had!
I apologize if this is a TMI moment, but I have to admit that razor burn and ingrown hairs have always been problems for me in my bikini area and underarms. As I stated in the previous section, this shave oil seems to reduce resistance between the razor and skin. Thankfully, that means that I don’t experience nearly as many instances of razor burn or ingrown hairs with this product. I do still have those problems if I shave daily (I usually only shave 2-3 times each week), so I took away a couple of points in this category.
I also used to cut my ankles frequently while shaving. I don’t think I’ve cut myself once since I started shaving with this shave oil! I’m really not sure how this is possible since I also get such a close shave. I’m not complaining though! It’s a relief not to have to stick bits of toilet paper to my ankles after shaving anymore. 🙂
My legs used to feel so DRY every time I shaved. I’d get out of the shower and have that unpleasant tight feeling almost immediately. I still put lotion on my legs every time I shave, but I can tell a big difference in how my skin feels after using this shave oil vs. my old shaving products. I no longer have that tight feeling and I can tell that my skin retains some moisture from the shave oil. The name of the product does have “moisturizing” in it so I’m glad it does not disappoint in that department!
We can thank several amazing skincare ingredients for the moisturizing property of this shave oil. Many ingredients are also soothing and antioxidant-rich.
- Oat kernel extract
- Shea butter
- Vitamin E
- Sesame seed oil
- Grape seed oil
- Jojoba seed oil
- Argan oil
I appreciate good packaging that is easy to use, especially in the shower when my hands are wet and may be slick. This shave oil is packaged in a pump which makes it so easy to use and get just the right amount of product. There is no awkward fumbling around trying to get it open, which I really like! The pump is also tall and narrow so it doesn’t take up too much space in the shower.
The one down-side to this shave oil’s packaging, is that there is no cap to secure the pump. This isn’t a problem if you only want to use it at home, but if you wanted to travel with it, that would be quite difficult. Some of the product would need to be transferred to a different dispenser, or you’d end up with a big mess on your hands (or rather, in your suitcase)!
This Tree Hut shave oil is definitely more expensive than the shaving gels and shaving creams I used to buy. I would definitely prefer it to be a little less expensive, but at the same time I think it is worth it. This is a superior product, in my opinion. It also includes some very high quality ingredients that you probably wouldn’t find in most other shaving products.
Shaving used to be such a chore for me. Makes sense considering it used to cause me so much irritation, and frequently cuts as well!
Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil has changed that for me. I now look forward to shaving and see it as self-care because the product feels nice on my skin and smells so good! Granted, I have only used the one scent, but I have used other Tree Hut products in the past and I think they all smell wonderful.
Do you ever struggle with getting a close shave, or irritation/cuts from shaving? If so, I bet you would love this product! Please let me know if you’ve tried it or any other Tree Hut products.
