One of my favorite types of skincare products to hydrate and calm my combination skin every morning, is a gel or gel-cream moisturizer. Those types of formulas tend to have a very lightweight and refreshing feel on the skin. The last gel moisturizer I used was Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel, and while I enjoyed that product and would recommend it, I’ve found another morning moisturizer that I like even better! Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream is my new moisturizer that I apply every single morning.
According to Versed, the Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream is appropriate for all skin types. I used to have quite oily skin and now it is combination, so I can’t speak for dry skin types, but this moisturizer and similar formulas are fantastic for combination and oily skin types because they aren’t greasy. At the same time, they are generally still plenty hydrating for normal to oily skin types.

If you want to keep your skin hydrated but don’t like the feel of traditional cream textures, meet your new moisturizer match. The lightweight gel-cream formula with a jelly-like texture absorbs instantly and disappears into your skin, leaving it feeling refreshed, never greasy. Basically, it’s ideal for those warmer months when heavier moisturizers tend to weigh you down—or simply if you deal with oily, breakout-prone skin 365 days a year. Sodium hyaluronate (like hyaluronic acid it helps draw in and retain moisture in skin) and aloe leaf juice hydrate while natural antioxidants found in green tea soothe skin, fight damaging free radicals, and quiet inflammation.

Packaging/ease of application
Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream is packaged in a plastic squeeze tube with a twist-off cap. Like all Versed products, it has a simple yet sophisticated look. I like it when lightweight moisturizers like this one are packaged in squeeze tubes because the ingredients are protected better than they would be in a jar and it’s easy to squeeze out exactly how much product is needed. Thicker formulas don’t always work as well in squeeze tubes, but for this type of product, I think this packaging is perfect. I also appreciate that the packaging is recyclable.
This moisturizer is definitely what I’d call “no-fuss” because it’s so easy to apply. The formula’s texture is accurately described in the product description above. It is a very lightweight gel-cream that smooths easily over the skin and absorbs quickly. No greasy residue is left behind after this moisturizer is applied, whether I use just a small amount or a little extra on days that I feel like I need extra hydration.
I am skeptical of the claim that Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream is appropriate for all skin types (according to the packaging). I think the product description copied from VersedSkin.com is more on the mark. While this product is plenty hydrating for combination and oily skin, and probably for normal skin types as well, I’m not sure that it would be quite hydrating enough for those with dry skin. However, during warmer or more humid months, this Versed gel-cream may be sufficient even for dry skin. Most people, even those with dry skin, don’t need heavy moisturizers in a humid environment.
Since this product has “gel-cream” in the name, and Versed is transparent about what the product is, I didn’t hesitate to give it 10/10 for hydration. As someone with combination skin, I am very pleased with the amount of hydration this moisturizer provides. My skin drinks it right up and feels very soft and supple after I apply this product every morning. Those with dry skin will likely know to choose a heavier moisturizer than this one, especially during dry months.
It’s very important for morning skincare products to be good “team players” and layer well since makeup is often applied on top. Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream can be used AM and/or PM, but I only use it in the mornings so that is the perspective I’m writing from in regards to layering. I prefer to use a heavier moisturizer at night.
As I mentioned previously, this moisturizer is lightweight and absorbs into the skin very quickly…within seconds actually! That is one important characteristic I look for in moisturizers that I plan to use in the mornings because products that absorb quickly usually layer very well. This Versed moisturizer layers easily over products like toner and serum to lock in all those skin-loving skincare ingredients without leaving the skin feeling greasy. Sunscreen applies well on top, without any need to wait in between steps. This moisturizer is a fantastic team player that never interferes with other products’ performance, except perhaps to make some products work even better! 🙂
One of the things Versed prides itself on most, is high standards for ingredients used in each of its formulations. Versed products are formulated based on the EU’s safe ingredient standards, which means there are 1,300+ potentially unsafe ingredients that Versed will never use. On that note, here is the full ingredient list for Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream:
Water, Glycerin, Propylene glycol, Squalane, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, 1,2-hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Polyacrylamide, Triticum vulgare (wheat) germ oil, C13-14 isoparaffin, Sodium hydroxide, Sambucus nigra (elderberry) flower extract, Laureth-7, Trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate, Sodium hyaluronate, Potassium sorbate, Sodium benzoate, Citric acid
This ingredient list may look long, but it actually contains 21 ingredients which is on the low side for most moisturizers. Eight of these ingredients stand out as excellent skin-loving ingredients (please note that my primary resources for ingredient information are INCI Decoder and Paula’s Choice Ingredient Dictionary)!:
- Natural moisturizer
- Propylene glycol
- Humectant (draws moisture into the skin)
- Helps active ingredients to penetrate the skin
- Moisturizer found naturally in certain fish, plants, and human skin
- Aloe barbadensis leaf juice
- Camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract
- Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil
- Wax ester that stays on the skin surface to moisturize and make skin soft
- Sambucus nigra (elderberry) flower extract
- Potent antioxidant
- Hydrates and soothes skin
- Sodium hyaluronate
- Sodium form of hyaluronic acid
- Humectant (draws moisture into the skin)
Almost all of these eight ingredients function to keep the skin hydrated. That’s great to see, because even oilier skin types need plenty of moisture. I’m impressed that Versed was able to incorporate so many hydrators without this product feeling greasy. I always like to mention the position of these types of ingredients within the ingredient list since that indicates the concentration. The first six of these skin-loving ingredients are in the top seven, which means they have reasonably high concentrations and are definitely going to provide benefits to the skin. Sambucus nigra (elderberry) flower extract and sodium hyaluronate are further down the list, but still good to see included.
The other 13 ingredients in this product are a mixed bag of “neutral” ingredients like solvents, thickeners, preservatives, and pH adjusters. They are all completely safe and used to support the overall efficacy of the product.
This is where I would normally describe any “bad” potentially unsafe ingredients, but fortunately there isn’t a single one in this moisturizer! This formula is a simple one, yet effective. I’m very happy with the ingredients used in this product.
Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream is $14.99 ($7.50/oz.), which is consistent with the pricing of other Versed products. I think $14.99 is very reasonable for this moisturizer, especially since I had a hard time coming up with a single negative thing to say about it! The texture is amazing, it applies like a dream, plays well with other products, keeps my skin perfectly hydrated, and contains really good ingredients without any bad stuff!
Looking at similar products, this moisturizer is not the least expensive but it is on the lower end. Considering all the good qualities of Versed Dew Point and how the price compares with most of its competition, I think $14.99 is a steal!
I’d had my eye on Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream since I first heard about it several months ago. I’m so glad I received it as a Christmas gift so I could finally try it! I’ve really enjoyed using this moisturizer as part of my morning skincare routine. It’s so refreshing and easy to use; it’s really one of those products that’s just about foolproof.
I would highly recommend this gel-cream moisturizer to anyone looking for a lightweight product that still provides plenty of hydration. With the possible exception of those with dry skin, I think almost everyone would enjoy this product! It’s nice not to have any other caveats here since there aren’t any common irritants like fragrance used in this formula.
Do you prefer to use a lightweight moisturizer like this one in the mornings, or do you use something heavier? Let me know in the comments!
